Foursquare v5 Released!

Benedict Corpuz June 7, 2012 9
Foursquare is now moving away from being a check-in app and into a recommendation engine.

This awesome new version comes on the heels of me earning my SFO Airport Mayorship back today.

It looks like one can now view friends check-ins in a timeline-like feed. One can now 'like' a friend's check-in by tapping the heart. A friends past check-ins are now easily accessible to continue a conversation on said check-in.

You can also like/dislike said venues. The first one I liked was my beloved SFO Airport.

I can't wait to see what other surprises are in store. Time for me to use the app!

Are you sure it's released? I've looked at the play store and there is no update yet to V5.

Actually, some of my Android friends got their updates today after some refreshing.

And of course, my mayorship is gone again to the cheater from across the bay.

I've noticed check-ins to be a to faster with the new update. I wish we could toggle the stream between nearby and worldwide.

I love the new app's re-design on Android. But the part of England where I live does not have many users or special offers.

+John Stock, maybe you can be a Foursquare advocate there. Local business might need that little push. When a non-user sees that a user gets a little extra discount, free drink, or any other special, that may entice one to join and use Foursquare.
