I'm already a big Fractal Design Fan. I own both a Define R4 and Arc Midi R2 Case as well as Fractal Design PSUs. I was happy to be able to have a chance to do a review on this cases it came just in time for my AMD RedTeam+ Radeon Rig Build.

This case is aimed more towards the budget crowd while still retaining the high quality of Fractal Designs other cases.

This case is mostly steel with the exception of the front part of the case, which is plastic made to look like brushed metal. At first glance, one would think it really is brushed metal.

There are two USB 3.0 ports on the front as well as a headphone port, a microphone port, an LED HDD activity indicator, and power and reset switches.

The case has an innovative type of mounting plates for SSDs and HDDs to be mounted "sideways" compared to normal cases where the drives are stacked. This allows for better airflow through the case. Once can mount 3 SSDs in the outside and 3 HDDs on the inside. There are also 2 places to mount SSDs behind the motherboard.

Without the drives in the way, one can easily mount a larger water cooler in the front of the case. My build will have two water cooling systems. One cooling system for the CPU, and another for my GPU. Each radiator will have 2 fans in a push-pull configuration. That leaves 5 more spaces for me to install other fans.

This case with the plates to mount the drives will allow for pretty good cable management. This build should look tight and clean by the time I finish it.

The extra space really helps when mounting the extra long R9 295X2 GPU. In my other cases, the GPU hits the drive cages.

One thing I wish for is a windowed panel. It was an easy fix though, I took the panel from my Arc Midi and placed it on the Core 3300.

I can't wait to complete my build. Even though this case is aimed toward the budget crowd, I like the configuration and will keep my rig in it.

I couldn't have chosen a better case for myself. I'm glad that this is the one I was sent. sometimes the best decisions are the ones made for you.

Budget build, great! How many 3.5" drives can it hold?

    There's space for 3 3.5" drives and 5 2.5" HDDs/SSDs
