I'm curious about the 9590. Do you need to buy a new board coming from the 6300?

+skobywan kenobi They're both an AM3+ socket, but it might depend on whether the motherboard is compatible.

+skobywan kenobi you just need to make sure your board can handle the 9590, which draws 220w

I have a 600w at the moment but I'll be upgrading soon. I was going to go for an i7 this time with a gtx 980. I've been holding fire for the radeon 9000 series though. I'm hoping amd release something nice this time.

I'll have to look into the fx 9590 if it'll let me keep my board. How's it stack up against the i7?
